Establish a local nutrient cycle with the goals of recycling the valuable contents of baby excreta, avoiding waste and supporting parents to promote "diaper-free" children.

ELEMENTS OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

  1. The diaper inserts are produced from local natural fibres and contain neither plastics nor other non-composted components. In comparison, the production of conventional disposable diapers requires long transport routes, water, wood, energy and petroleum products as educt and energy source.

  2. The used inserts are converted into soil with a high humus content with biologically activated vegetable charcoal via worm compost, in order to improve the humification process.

    • Thereby previously unused resources will be unlocked.

    • This replaces the energy required for the disposal of around one tonne of conventional disposable diapers, as well as for water consumption and treatment of cloth diapers.

  3. The cornerstone of this start-up is the establishment of local family groups that will be aware of issues such as minimal waste consumption and welfare child education (kindgerechte Erziehung). In addition, the family groups are to become familiar with the "Elimination Communication" concept in order to reduce the need for diapers from 3 to 1 year.

MAKING THE ECONOMY MORE CIRCULAR

The non-profit project "Nachwachsende Windeln" (Regenerative Diapers) is being developed within the framework of the Swiss Circular Economy (CE) Incubator, a business incubator program designed to support innovative start-ups.
